Homeland Pilot Reviews

Homeland 1×01 – Pilot

I’ve been hearing a lot of chatter for a while over just how captivating Homeland is, particularly the notion that it just might be 24′s long awaited successor. While I don’t think it’s earned the similarity yet, the pilot was quite fascinating to watch.

I do appreciate shows that waste no time getting into the heat of things right from the beginning so I was immediately hooked. I’m not really a fan of storylines pertaining to real world current events especially when it comes to Iraq and Afghanistan, but this hour worked due to the range of interesting characters we were introduced to.

Monica Baccarin in particular was simply stellar. She was one of the sole bright spots of V last year and I’m undoubtedly sure she will become a huge star with this show. She’s simply phenomenal. As for Claire Danes, I never really liked her but she fits the role perfectly especially with the bipolar aspect.

Moreover, the final sequence was brilliant revealing that our POW had indeed been turned. I’m definitely intrigued to see where it all goes so I’ll stick around for a few episodes. I do hope they manage to keep things fresh however, as the premise is something I might tire of soon. Nevertheless, kudos to a strong offering.

  1. I watched the Homeland pilot, liked it, but haven't watched the rest just yet. I guess it didn't totally grab me.

I actually really loved Revenge this week, but I'm a huge fan of over-the-top soap operas, so that explains it. Loved the ridiculous Kill Bill training thing. That show is so silly.

  2. Max you read my mind. I watched the Homeland pilot yesterday and for some reason today I simply have no interest in continuing. Maybe I will eventually, but at the moment, it just didn't cement itself as a priority even though it had a good pilot. I guess I really need the emotional attachment aspect to really stick with a show!

  3. Allo, Nadim.
I was reading your Nikita (All The Way) review at Billie's site and paid attention on the link to your own site. Pretty simple and cool site, Nadim. Pristine.
I was able to watch the whole Season 1 of Homeland. IMO its was amazing! The writing, pacing and of course the actors (lead, supporting and even the guests) are excellent. Missing seemed like a recess time compared to this show. Check out the teaser for Season 2 of this show; very intriguing.
Well, i'm getting carried away once again.
Btw, better watch LFN with Peta Wilson as Nikita. You'll love the chemistry between the Peta and Roy Dupuis. We all know how much Billie love Roy D. because of this series. LFN for me is a bit dark with just a touch of cinnamon humor. You'll flinch without even seeing a single scene of interrogation. Just seeing the interrogators will creep you out; especially the Twins (a male and female torturers with their luggage – yes, dear, luggage, of tricks). Nikita on the other hand have great one-liners and completely brings the house down with dark humor and wit.
Keep on bringing up those reviews, Nadim. I really enjoy reading them and at times makes me re-watch the show, you, you Alias sadist. (Loved that show, too. Miss it terribly.)
    Have a great weekend!

  4. I'm so glad you discovered my site PlatinumRosebud.
Thank you I really needed someone to encourage me to finish Homeland. I only saw the pilot and then wasn't really excited to continue until you just reminded me. Since we have similar tastes I'm sure I'll enjoy the rest of the season. I'll make watching it a priority!

And yes LFN will be added to my list as well! Haha! Thank you and have a great weekend as well!
