Back in 1999, I fell in love with two television obsessions; Buffy The Vampire Slayer, & Survivor. Yes, the original reality show that still does reality TV better than all that other crap on television. I’ve watched a lot of the seasons since the show’s inception and missed a few due to scheduling issues living in Lebanon and all. Nevertheless, I’ve always held a deep appreciation and love for this complex, fascinating, and often thrilling show about the human psyche. The fact that it takes place in the mold of an exciting game show only makes things more amazing. So I decided to give this latest season a chance and I’m so happy to report that the show is still as awesome as ever. I probably won’t be reviewing subsequent episodes until the finale unless things gets really fantastic but I’m just so happy that I caught last night’s pilot. It was just as awesome as I remembered and I loved the new game-changing twist having both tribes living together. Moreover, the cast immediately pops off the screen this season with the usual wacky batch of psychos, do-gooders, and hotties. Here’s to a fantastic season of a show that has yet to lose it’s magic more than a decade after its premier. A true accomplishment indeed.
