I don’t think I’ve ever been this bored with an episode of Mad Men. The sad thing is I’ve read a lot of reviews about this episode online and everyone seems to think it’s one of the show’s best. I however found myself quite detached and uninterested. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood, or maybe I just hate Pete with a passion that I’m really not interested in exploring his psyche or motivations. Of course this wasn’t a “bad” episode per say. It was technically proficient as always, and I appreciate the effort taken by the writers to explore yet another character in a deeper manner. Nevertheless, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Simply much too forgettable for me.

  1. Woah, dude. Could not disagree more. Surely you need to learn about his psyche in order to understand him, and why he's so horrible? He came out of that episode so badly, but there was so much tragedy to how self-destructive and pathetic he became, and how he can't get away with those sorts of actions like his co-workers can. And Lane! God, his whole story was like the parallel to that, in that he's quiet and walked over, yet suddenly aggressive and capable when cornered.

I don't know, to me it was spectacular and a real show classic. Maybe you were just a little distracted like you said?

And I think you blurred a couple of episode titles together, too. Heh.

  2. Ooops thanks for the heads up! Between this and the Dominique error I think you've adopted your role as my spell-checker!
I was most definitely distracted. The more I think about it, the more I appreciate it.
