Finally I find myself engrossed again by Once Upon A Time. I appreciate the fact that this episode got everything moving and rearranged all of the pieces that had been building over the course of the year. I was actually planning on giving up on the show this season but after watching this episode, I’m not so sure I will anymore as it was quite impressive.
First off, I’m glad that Emma is finally faced head-on with her destiny and her role as the savior. I was starting to feel like she was too much of a passive heroine so at least now she’s finally reacting to the burden that’s been bestowed upon her. I absolutely loved her breakdown in the woods which reminded me a lot of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s similar turmoils on Buffy. Jennifer Morrison was quite amazing in it and I was extremely impressed. Her scenes with August were also excellent and I especially enjoyed the flashbacks of him taking care of her as a baby.
Finally, I was amused by Regina’s sinister ploy to seduce Charming. Them getting together would actually be quite entertaining as he’s pretty boring on his own. Hmm…
All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by this hour and found myself invested for the first time in a long, long time. This show still might reel me in yet.
