Well well well, another twisted delight. After a strangely compelling yet highly disturbing pilot, American Horror Story churns out another terrifying outing. The teaser in particular with our Manson-style serial killer was beyond horrifying, as it perfectly set the tone for a spooky hour.
The home invasion itself was very well done, and generated the right amount of excitement and thrills. I found the house’s involvement in fighting off the attackers quite captivating, as it raises the notion that it might not be a purely evil entity. Moreover, while Ben being preoccupied with a pregnant Hayden was a bit too convenient, I’m wiling to let it slide since the attack itself was so entertaining.
Of course, the episode’s real highlight is again Jessica Lange who is beyond spectacular as offbeat Constance. She got some fantastic material to work with here from those luscious-looking poison cookies to trapping Adelade in a room full of mirrors, and of course enjoying her boy-toy. Suffice to say, I can’t wait to learn more about her. Oh and sniffing Vivian’s pregnancy? Hilarious.
And finally, I was quite intrigued by the ending as Constance, Moira and Tate came together in a very bizarre scene. The show has done an excellent job of raising a bunch of compelling questions and intriguing mysteries so I’m really looking forward to learning more.
Conclusion
All in all, Home Invasion was another enthralling and confident outing from a very different kind of show.
