Wow! I didn’t think it was possible for me to love Alicia Florrick more but this hour was an excellent showcase for the character as well The Good Wife‘s understated brilliance.
From Amanda Peet’s excellent turn to Kristen Chenoweth and Myriam Shor (GCB reunion) and the return of two lovable judges (Kuhn and Abernathy), there was a lot of star power in this one. It’s a testament to the show’s quality really that they can manage such a high-profile rooster of talent and give them all their due. And of course, I can’t forget Maura Tierney as Mandy who many rightfully predicted would put herself in the running against Peter. I have to say I’m most excited about this development particularly as her friendship with Alicia will undoubtedly complicate things. I can’t wait to see where the campaign goes next.
Of course the real meat of the episode was the case of the week and it definitely did not disappoint. I was immensely intrigued by the attempted rape and the blurring of the lines between military and civil court. The fact that the rapist got off because he got activated just before the attack was a harrowing example of how justice is not always served. Nevertheless, I loved watching Alicia try her best to win the case as she continued to cement herself as a force to be reckoned with inside the courtroom.
And finally, even Jackie was hilarious in this hour with her new caretaker. I usually feel like she’s superfluous to the proceedings, but pairing her up with Christian proved to be a highly enjoyable little subplot that I’m surprisingly looking forward to seeing more of.
Conclusion
Expertly written and thoroughly compelling, this was a standout hour of The Good Wife.

Oof, this was heartbreaking. I can't believe they lost the case. Love how it's just the client and Alicia sitting in an empty court at the end and she asks Alicia “what do you do when this is all over?”. I got teary-eyed!
I'm too excited about Maura Tierney and the endless possibilities now that her character is running against Peter! But where is Will? He's gotten not more than 5 seconds of screentime in the past 3 episodes!
