Well this was weird. I felt like I needed a notepad to keep track of the constant time-jumping in this one. It’s one thing to start an episode in media res, it’s a whole other to zip around through time a dozen times in 40 minutes!
Nevertheless, I guess the disorienting pace of the hour mimicked exactly what our characters were going through under the chemical attack. In fact, it made the episode all the more engrossing and unpredictable. In addition, we’ve got a bizarre love triangle brewing in the midst of everything between Sam, Sophie and Christina. I like the fact that it’s not your typical triangle and the reveal of their kiss while he was under the effect of BZ made the development all the more intriguing.
And finally, I was most fascinated by the events following the attack as our favorite captain is revived by an unknown individual and realizes the nuclear launch key is missing. Here’s hoping the show’s undoubtedly shortened first season will go out on top.
Conclusion
An intriguing hour of Last Resort.
