It’s finally happened, The Vampire Diaries is having a weak season. This year is in fact the show’s weakest yet and that’s just heartbreaking to fathom.
When Elena was turned, I was positive this would be the show’s greatest year yet and it’s been anything but. We’ve had some great moments for Elena and Damon (on their own and as a couple) but the rest of the show just hasn’t been up to par. In addition, the sire twist has ruined the only thing I was really loving about the year. I don’t have a doubt in my mind that the show will turn things around soon, it’s a just a shame we had to suffer through almost half a season of slowness and tedious developments.
I do have to applaud the show for killing off Carol Lockwood though. The show needed a big death so this was a welcome development. The sequence itself was superb with Klaus murdering her quite casually with a Christmas theme to boot. In fact, if this episode succeeded in anything else, it was reinstating Klaus as a formidable villain because the whole lovesick puppy thing was getting old. I’m still not a fan of Joseph Morgan but this will have to do.
Bits & Bites
– Bad ass moment with Elena shockingly deflecting Jeremy’s sudden attack.
– Haley snapping Caroline’s neck was pretty cool.
– Elena still deciding to kiss Damon at the end was a sweet little touch.
Caroline: Is this you in crisis mode? Because it’s a lot more than subtle than mine.
Damon: Try the sock drawer. People leave the sketchiest things in the sock drawer.

Covering Your Tracks by Amy Stroup
Oblivion by Bastille (incredible song, loving it at the moment)
Although it had an outstanding ending, I didn’t love this hour.
