Batman’s Coming
Well, I guess if you can’t bring Batman to the small screen, this might be the next best thing (after The Joker, Catwoman, and all the awesome characters in the Caped Crusader’s rogue gallery). This week, FOX ordered Gotham, an origin story about Gotham City’s very own Commissioner Gordan. I can’t say the prospect excites me much, but it’s still the wonderful world of Batman, so we’re bound to get a ton of cool DC villains. Let’s keep our eyes out on this one and see if the pilot gets picked up (and who they cast in the titular role).

Return of the Harlots
ABC’s terrible summer drama Mistresses has been picked up for a second season. I watched the pilot out of eternal loyalty to the gorgeous Alyssa Milano, but it proved to be a painful experience. After a few episodes, I realized this show was way too cheap (and not in a good, fun way a la Devious Maids). I want to say I’ll give it another shot, but lying is not good for the site. Kudos ladies.

Vampy Couples

Nad’s News isn’t usually one to post gossip, but the extracurricular activities of The Vampire Diaries cast are way too amusing to pass up. First off, Paul Wesley is reportedly dating Phoebe Tonkin who guest-starred on the show this year before hopping on to its spinoff (The Originals). In addition, his on-screen love Nina Dobrev has moved on from costar Ian Sommerhalder to Derek Hough, four-time winner of Dancing with the Stars. Best of luck to both couples. Here’s hoping the show is just as exciting this year (after a messy fourth season).

Whedon Speaks
There’s no denying that Joss Whedon is one of the finest writers in the business today. Here’s a great find from Entertainment Weekly with Whedon discussing everything from Buffy‘s original name to his issues with The Avengers, and a heartbreaking bullying incident from his childhood. Give it a read, you won’t regret it.

Revengeful Return

Now that basically everyone affiliated with Revenge has gone on the record concerning the show’s sophomore slump, here’s Emily VanCamp encouraging us all to tune in tonight because the show is going back to its “roots“. I gotta admit, all signs are pointing to an incredible premiere. Fingers crossed people.

This Week In Ratings

The Blacklist Beats Hostages
I haven’t caught the pilot of The Blacklist yet (it just doesn’t seem very exciting), but NBC’s new drama actually beat the premiere of CBS’ Hostages this week. Are NBC’s fortunes on the upswing for once? I can’t say Hostages didn’t deserve it.

Shield Debuts Huge. Lucky 7 Flops
Thankfully, all is well in the world because Shield pulled in some great numbers for its pilot. Let’s hope the show can keep it up. Oh, and Lucky 7‘s debut had the lowest ratings in ABC’s history. Damn.

Weekly Picks

Quote of the Week
“This is the day we either saw Prince, or a really flamboyantly-dressed Greyhound.”
– Marshall Eriken, How I Met Your Mother.

Episode of the Week
Marvel’s Agents of Shield 1×01 – Pilot (Series Premiere)
No doubt about it. A fantastic opener for the most buzzed about show of the season. I have high hopes for this one, and I feel it’s going to become a favorite of mine for many years to come. If you’re thinking of starting a new show this season, this is it.

Promo of the Week
American Horror Story Coven
I simply can not wait for the show’s third season premiere. This is one hell of a promo. It’s creepy, captivating, and unsettling on so many levels. And not only does Jessica Lange get an epic line (“When witches don’t fight, we burn.“), I’m pretty I’m going to be having nightmares thanks to Angela Bassett’s terrifying laugh at the end. Woah.

Must-Download Tune of the Week
More Than Anything by Rudimental featuring Emeli Sande
Grey’s Anatomy‘s season ten premiere was superb, and there were four excellent songs that you must download. At the moment, this one is my favorite. Because really, how brilliant is Emeli Sande? I can’t wait to see what other great music I’ll be discovering through Grey‘s this season.

And finally, I don’t watch Dexter, but how cool is the packaging for the complete series set?

Until next week folks. Happy TV Binging.
