The attention this week has shifted from Maggie (and the new sister storyline) to involve all the major characters. Seeing the doctors pitted against one other in this episode turned out to be really exciting and interesting to watch.

Alex didn’t get the board seat which was quite disappointing. It’s true that Bailey has more experience and all but I think Alex deserved it more. He has grown a lot in the past couple of years and has been working hard and was actually prepared quite well for the meeting. Bailey, on the other hand, has lost her edge. It was particularly irritating how she felt that she was the only one who deserved the seat and Alex was no competition. Throughout the episode, I had a feeling that Bailey would eventually win but as Alex got called in first I thought for a second that the writers will go with him instead, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. Which makes me wonder: now that Bailey got the board seat and Arizona is up for fellowship, will Alex be the new head of peds?

Webber’s relationship with his daughter is on rocky water. That scene with him telling Meredith that he deserved to know about Maggie and how he wanted to be a father was heartbreaking. And Maggie’s reaction at the end really surprised me. Although Webber should have told her the truth from the start, she out of all people should know how hard that is. Webber is one of the nicest characters on the show; the guy deserves a chance at happiness.

Elsewhere, Meredith and Derek’s relationship seems to be only getting worse. Meredith’s fear came true as Derek blamed her for giving up his job. Disliking McDreamy is something I thought would never happen but it seems he is now more arrogant than ever which isn’t helping his case. Amelia is right, Derek should own up to his decision and bear the consequences. Seriously when will he and Meredith finally learn that they need to communicate with one another to figure out their issues?

Bits & Scalpels

– Callie and Arizona seem to be stuck in the same storyline all over again which is becoming really boring.

– Owen’s speech about Cristina was beautiful and touching.

– Was I the only one who thought Owen’s problem was not about Cristina but because he had something to do with that guy’s leg amputation?

– Watching Amelia going head to head with Derek should be interesting as neither is willing to step back.

– My first reaction to Bailey taking a selfie with the patient was to laugh. But then when I thought about it, it seems so out of character. When did Bailey become this person? I miss the Nazi!

– Again what is Geena Davis doing on this show? She is not even given a decent screen time to form a proper judgment on her character.

– Another patient with a tree branch? Seeing this for the second time just doesn’t have the same impact.

– I like Meredith and Alex’s dynamics and that bathroom scene was funny.

– Owen and Callie’s fight was pretty intense. The two should have more scenes together.

Grey Banter

Meredith: Okay, fine. It’s… your junk is spectacular. Jo is a very lucky girl. Can we get back to me now?

Alex: Mer, I realize that I said I would take over as your person. Maybe that means I have to buy your tampons and act like your husband’s hair is special and crap.

Jackson: Grey calls in sick. Your wife tries to give up peds surgery on me. And boy Shepherd’s in a pissing match with girl Shepherd, which they won’t admit. And Yang screws us with Bailey versus Karev. And I think Richard has the hots for the new cardio God, Maggie or whatever? Which is gross, ’cause she is 12. So, now you and Hunt are running around screaming at each other? I don’t get to be a surgeon. I’m a hall monitor.

Owen: I owe you an apology.
Callie: Were you going to give me one, or is this just a heads-up?

Derek: My resume will kick your resume’s ass. I am better than you.
Amelia: Oh my God Derek, there’s no limit to your narcissism.
Derek: I have been playing this game longer than you at a much higher level. That is all there is to it.
Amelia: Bite me.

Derek: Amy, you don’t have to scrub in.
Amelia: I want to be sterile when I come over there and stick that bovie in your eye.

Callie: Aw. He tried to be cool. Don’t try to be cool. It’s sad.
Owen: Don’t try to be cool.
Jackson: Shut up.

Meredith: Vulnerability isn’t the opposite of strength. It’s a necessary part. You have to force yourselves to open up, to expose ourselves, to offer everything we have and just pray that it’s good enough. Otherwise, we’ll never succeed.

  1. Enjoyable episode indeed! I can't believe Grey's this season has been this consistent and fun to watch. The drama in this episode was so good, especially Webber and Meredith's heartbreaking scene. I wouldn't mind less Callie/Arizona though.

And Owen's scene with Callie in the scrub-room was seriously amazing. Still loving this show!
