I don’t know if I’m just in that mindset but I can’t watch a show with so many unlikeable people. No one in this cast is likable. No one!
The story of an uber-rich family vying for control after their patriarch considers stepping down from the family business, Succession is populated with spoiled brats backstabbing each other at every turn. It doesn’t make for very entertaining viewing, and the performances are subpar across the board. It would have been wise of the show to at least include one character we can latch on to. Say what you will about a show like Scandal (which became horrendous in the end), but it at least had some vulnerable characters we could relate to at the start. Almost everyone on Succession is pure evil incarnate, and there’s not a single performer I’d like to see more of. It just makes for really exhausting viewing.
Perhaps if this pilot contained a couple of effective bombshells or some clever dialogue, it could have masked its weaknesses. But there’s nothing you haven’t seen before (a problem that plagued The Passage – another one of the show’s season’s new shows), and that’s a real pity. Why waste your time on a mediocre show in this era of Peak-TV?
Conclusion
Uninspired plotting and dull visuals make this an unimpressive pilot.

You’re spot on about that. Everyone on the show is a shitty human being. Some more than others. Those who are the least worst are the best people you can expect to root for on a show like that.
