It’s official: Tom Holland is my favorite Spiderman. Although the original Spiderman trilogy is still my preferred take on the iconic webslinger, I never really loved Tobey Maguire in the role (and the less said about the forgettable Andrew Garfield outings the better). But Holland is just terrific, and he’s been knocking it out of the park since his first appearance in Civil War.
Far From Home isn’t a groundbreaking superhero flick (it definitely ain’t no Endgame), but it’s supremely entertaining across the board. It helps that it’s filmed across several iconic European destinations, giving it a range of fresh backdrops that we don’t usually experience in Marvel flicks. Let’s be honest, we really don’t need another superhero film set in Manhattan.
Most impressively, Jake Gyllenhaal delivers a pretty great turn as the iconic Spidey villain Mysterio. The CGI used to bring his powers to life is of course terrific, as are the production values across all the set-pieces. One sequence in particular in which Mysterio’s various illusions come to life is just mesmerizing and haunting in its brilliance.
You know who else is a standout? Zendaya as Mary Jane. I recently discovered the actress’ and her astounding talent on Euphoria, and she’s extremely charming here. The romantic chemistry she shares with Holland is off the charts, making for a truly endearing ride.
And yes the mid-credit and post-credit sequences are absolute game changers in every way. Bring on Phase 4 of the MCU!

Packed with creativity and charm, Far From Home is an incredibly memorable Spidey flick.
