What a bizarre pilot. On one hand, this episode started out with a lot of promise as June’s life was turned upside down in some hilarious ways (I especially loved her walking into complete anarchy at her office). Moreover, Krysten Ritter as Chloe is definitely an excellent lead as she’s just a very charming actress no matter how evil she’s supposed to act.
On the other hand, things got a bit too insane and unrealistic for my liking as I just felt like something was off with the tone in the second half of the episode. It doesn’t help that I really didn’t enjoy James Van Der Beek as his role is just too one-dimensional at the moment. I think I’ll give the show another episode or two just to see if it can find its voice as it’s rare for a comedy to knock it out of the park right out the gate (unlike Modern Family for example).
All in all, it wasn’t horrible but there’s a lot of room for improvement here. Let’s hope the writers know what they’re doing.

This show was okay. I don't see how it can sustain itself though. She can't just be a bitch forever before it gets a little sadistic and boring… but giving her some heart would go against the whole premise of the show.
Maybe it should have been a movie, maybe?
I really don't see how it will sustain itself either. I don't find myself excited to watch the next episode. Maybe…
